On October 19, 2023, the "4th and 5th Distinguished Engineer Awards Ceremony", hosted by ISEFC with the support of the Nanjing Municipal People's Government and co-organized by the People's Government of Jiangning District and the Management Committee of Nanjing Jiangning Economic and Technological Development Zone, was grandly held in Nanjing City. Chen Xi, Chairman of ISEFC, Wu Wei, Deputy Mayor of Nanjing, CAE Members Xie Jianxin, Wang Fuming, Chai Hongfeng, Wang Guofang, Shan Zhongde, Peng Shou, Dong Shaoming, Shen Zhengchang, Cheng Jiecheng, Zhang Zongliang, Hu Ya'an, foreign member of the Russian Academy of Engineering Zhang Xueji, as well as the winners of the 4th and 5th "Distinguished Engineers Awards", leaders from the Science and Technology Association and Jiangning District, and representatives from related enterprises and media, totaling nearly 300 people, attended the ceremony.
The Distinguished Engineer Award was initiated by ISEFC in 2011 and approved by the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Office of National Science and Technology Awards. Its purpose is to vigorously promote the spirit of "responsibility, innovation, and collaboration" among Chinese engineers, and to reward and commend engineering and technical personnel from various industries who have made distinguished contributions on the national production and construction front line. The award is evaluated every two years. So far, it has been successfully held for five times. A total of 385 winners have been selected, of which 24 have been elected as members of the CAE Member. With the improvement of the selection mechanism, the social impact of the "Distinguished Engineer Award" has become increasingly widespread, and it has become one of the most comprehensive and authoritative awards for engineering and technical personnel in China, covering the widest range of fields.
It is reported that the winners of the 4th and 5th "Distinguished Engineer Awards" have won a total of 186 "National Science and Technology Progress Awards" and "National Science and Technology Invention Awards", and have more than 3,400 authorized invention patents and international patents.
This event has received strong support from the Nanjing Municipal People's Government. Both parties have worked together to promote the spirit of Chinese engineers, actively implement the national strategy of rejuvenating the country through science and education, the strategy of strengthening the country through talents, and the strategy of innovation-driven development, while actively promoting and enhancing the global competitiveness and international influence of science and technology in Jiangsu Province, Nanjing City, and Jiangning District.
